It has been some time since we’ve seen a full roster from Newbee with the team constantly utilizing stand-ins for recent events such as MDL Macau 2019 and the DreamLeague Season 11 qualifiers but now that has changed.
According to a post on their Weibo, Newbee have now confirmed a new roster featuring a legend of the Dota 2 scene returning to play after coaching for a long time.
The position 5 role has been in a state of constant change for Newbee since Zeng ‘Faith’ Hongda left in late February to join the MGB squad. However, the famous Wang ‘SanSheng’ Zhaohui with acclaimed success at The International 4 with Newbee has decided to move out of his coaching role and return to the forefront of Dota 2.
It has been quite some time since we last saw SanSheng playing Dota professionally, even though he did feature at the World Showdown of Esports last year alongside Team Serenity where they claimed the top spot. This return to the scene for SanSheng could be just what Newbee need to get themselves back on track.
While Newbee have not had the best results lately, their MDL
Macau 2019 run saw them show a much better side than has been seen in the 2019
Dota 2 Pro Circuit season. The team managed a fantastic 4th place
finish and off the back of this have decided to move the stand-in, Wen ‘awen’
Lipeng up from the Mr Game Boy squad to the main roster.
The full new Newbee roster is:
Xu ‘Moogy’ HanSong ‘Sccc’ ChunWen ‘awen’ LipengYan ‘Waixi’ ChaoWang ‘SanSheng’ Zhaohui
Wang ‘Banana’ Jiao will continue on as Newbee’s coach with
this new roster. We look forward to seeing the return of SanSheng as a player
and we’re sure we’ll see the Newbee squad playing soon with all the qualifiers
following the culmination of the current Major.
